Maureen Denise McCormick, youngest daughter and sole daughter of Richard McCormick as well as Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills on 5 August 1956. The mother of the child was home as an unmarried child. She has three older brothers: Michael, Dennis and Kevin. McCormick started singing and performing in her early years. McCormick would also perform in the neighborhood for children. McCormick's fairytale began when she was just six years old and won her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest. Then she received an email by Pat Domigan, a talent agent with the Jack Wormser Agency. He asked her if she wanted to work in the business of show production. Her first major role came in 1964 when she appeared in an advertisement for Mattel's newly released doll "Baby Pattaburp". In the following year, she appeared in a second commercial for Mattel's "Chatty the Cathy" doll and was soon included in the show Wind It Up And It Breaks, at the La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick performed the role of the smallest of three twins in the 1969 TV comedy The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson played the lead role, Robert Reed the father, with Robert Reed playing the newlyweds. The show ran for five years and the show was a great success. McCormick in her autobiography Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice published in 2008 disclosed that during the 5th season of her show, McCormick almost lost her relationship with her brother Barry Williams. He was 19 years old. She was just 16. She said that "it would have happened" however the timing was not the right time.
