Cynthia's journey to fame began after she relocated to New York in order to become a fashion designer. The first model contract she signed was with Wihelmina Models. This led to her appearance placed on the cover Essence Magazine. In addition to being Cynthia's initial cover with Essence one of the top-selling covers ever published by the magazine, it was also an absolute favorite for then editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Cynthia's next cover was scheduled within a short time, setting the foundation for a long-lasting career. She then moved towards Paris and Milan in which she appeared on the runways of Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was able to move back to New York City after living in the United States for nearly a year. Her campaign featured Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's.
